Our establishment is located directly on the Mittelland Canal in the Sandkamp district, a 7-minute walk to the main gate of VW and a 25-minute walk to the city center.
We offer you a traditional cuisine with international options, and a total of 30 guest rooms, with 21 in the new building and 9 more in the old building. In addition to single, double, and triple rooms, it is also possible to arrange quadruple rooms upon request.
The direct location on the Mittelland Canal provides ideal opportunities for walks, such as to the Volkswagen harbor basin 2 km away with a view of Autostadt, or in the opposite direction to the lock in Sülfeld, located 5 km away.
Furthermore, you can use the path along the canal for sporting activities such as jogging or walking.
During the summer months, you can enjoy a cozy atmosphere in our beer garden right on the Mittelland Canal. Additionally, a conservatory, open or closed depending on the weather, with a view of the canal, is available for comfortable dining and socializing in a familial atmosphere. Our guest and event rooms for 10 - 60 people allow you to host celebrations and conferences of all kinds throughout the year.

Our History
In the year 1874, the linen weaver Friedrich Niess and his wife Elisabeth, nee Payer, founded the restaurant with approximately 30 seats.
A hall was added in 1885, providing space for an additional 80 people. In 1956, Mrs. Frieda Dieckmann undertook a complete renovation of the restaurant, creating room for another 80 people in the dining and club area. The couple Elisabeth Scheil, nee Dieckmann, and her husband Reimer expanded the hall in 1974, increasing its capacity to accommodate 250 people. On September 19 of that year, the hall was officially dedicated.

The main hall can comfortably accommodate 60 people, and it is complemented by a cozy bar area.
Our Club Room and Club Room 2 provide ample space for your private celebrations, business events, or any other gatherings. Whether it's a special occasion or a business meeting, we have the ideal settings to suit your needs.
